Amanda & Damon – 28 November 2009

Amanda & Damon – 28 November 2009.

  by Sami Gale – 30th January, 2010.   6 comments.

Amanda & Damon invited 85 of their closest family & friends to witness them exchange vows in a Traditional Service at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at Mosman. Following the theme of traditional and elegant, their guests were treated to an intimate reception at the beautiful Boronia House. Amanda & Damon chose to have location shots at the immaculate grounds of Boronia House and Cremorne Point with our amazing harbour as their backdrop.

Amanda & Damon’s Favourite Image

Amanda & Damon chose this image as their favourite because “it is quite intimate, and we love the harbour in the background.”

Advice from Amanda & Damon

“Don’t confuse yourself with too many choices – less is more.

Drink plenty of water early in the day!!

Sit back with hubby at dinner to watch the room together – you tend to forget a lot of the night’s happenings!!

We had a truly beautiful day but, as everyone told us, it went so quick!!! The photos help to remember!!”

What we loved….

We loved that another of our wonderful wedding couples (Felicity & Nick) referred Amanda & Damon to us.

We loved that Amanda & Damon chose the theme of Elegant & Traditional. This theme perfectly matched this lovely couple and everything about their day was kept simple. This is probably a by product of Amanda & Damon’s advice of less is more.

It was quite beautiful to watch the eye contact between Amanda & Damon – it was very intimate and very special to be able to capture those emotions for them. Their favourite shot is just one of these!

Boronia House is just wonderful too – fantastic photographic fodder in the grounds, lovely ambience in the venue and great food too.

In keeping with the traditional theme, Amanda chose a five year old pare of shoes she bought in Melbourne – this was something old! You would never know they were old!

“My engagement ring cut is unique and the most beautiful ring ever. Not many girls have this cut which I love – I don’t like going for standard and what everyone else has. The wedding band matches perfectly. Damon’s is quite unique too.” (you will see Damon’s ring featured further down in this story).

These are so cute with the word “Mrs” sewn into them. What hubby wouldn’t love seeing these?

The Finer Details

Amanda & Damon ensured the traditional & elegant theme was carried right through for everything about their day.

Amanda describes her dress as “simple, but elegant”, with her hair being “Sweeping, Flowing and Stunning.”

The ceremony was “traditional nature” and held at quaint Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Mosman. And in keeping with tradition, this is the very church that Amanda’s grandparents married in back in 1947.

I just love the emotion in these 3 shots. Dad & Amanda having a bit of a laugh as they get out of the car, Damon sucking in a deep breath when he sees Amanda walking down the aisle with her dad, and her dad brushing away a little tear. These little emotions which if left to memory would never be experienced, immortalised for life!

I just love the tradition in this shot – the 3 sets of hands is just beautiful.

Location Shots

We tried to capture the elegance & tradition of this wedding at the location shots too – of course, mixed with some fun too! We used the beautiful grounds of Boronia House and the backdrop of the Harbour at Cremorne Point to create these images.

Just look at the look on Amanda’s face – she is just loving being Mrs Mumford!

  1. I loved this wedding it was so much fun, especially when Amanda and friends busted out into the Maccarena. Oh and Mandy if your reading this, I did notice that you moved Damon’s hand out of the way for the candle shot – thanks. Wishing you guys all the best in your new life together xoxo

  2. My darling Amanda and Damon, Thankyou so much for allowing us to be part of such a treasured day. Your photo’s have captured the elegance and romance of your day, and I adore the photo of the two of you with the harbour in the background and Amanda bursting into a giggle. Just gorgeus! Angus and I wish sweet dreams and happiness for the both of you, always. xox

  3. Thank you Sami for such an amazing job – everyone has commented on your work and how stunning it is!! Yes, I do remember moving Damo’s hand for the candle shot – that’s the Libran in me – perfectionist!! Thank you also to Israel and the team for your professionalism and friendship. Our wonderful day ran so smoothly, but that’s what happens when you’re an older, but relaxed bride – you’re more worldly, you realise what is important in life, and things just happen for you!!! Amanda

  4. Well, I can’t let so many great comments get posted up here without pitching in my 2 cents… I’m really really proud of Sami – it’s like my little girl has all growed up! I’m also thrilled Amanda that you and Damon love the photos as much as you do! It’s everything we strive for as a studio, and I’m really pleased that the experience you’ve had has been a great one. I’m wearing a big smile on my dial right now writing this… A very proud moment for our team, our studio, and our work that it stirs this much emotion in the people who are touched by it. *sigh* It’s a beautiful thing.

  5. What beautiful photos Mandy & Damon! I love the photo of Amanda looking behind her in the ceremony – that gorgeous, cheeky smile. Thank you so much for a wonderful day. May love, success and happiness surround you forever, Sarah xox

  6. Dearest Amanda, thank you so much for sharing such a sweet and beautiful moment with me, across the oceans. You make me miss Sydney so much……May peace and joy around this gorgeous Libran always! Love
